André Tempel – Milk and nuts

With his sculptural interventions, wall designs and drawings, André Tempel comments on and alienates the architecture of our project space "Neue Galerie". He combines serially produced, simple everyday objects to create surreal sculptures that enter into a relationship with the existing space and with each other: With his works, the artist reacts to the walls, ceiling height and floor texture. By combining individual parts contrary to their industrially determined purpose and useful utilisation, André Tempel questions their aesthetic content. In addition to pure amazement, this alienation also creates a critical distance between the objects of mass production and the viewer. The result is a unique - partly technoid, partly amorphous - poetry of everyday life.
