The spectrum of Dirk Heerklotz's artistic expression is broad. It ranges from sprawling, brightly coloured sculptures made of polyurethane and polystyrene to architecturally conceived layers of monochrome painted MDF "Platte"; heavy bronze works are juxtaposed with filigree drawings that possess a great lightness in the combination of pencil and red and blue coloured pencil. This stylistic diversity is the result of a meticulous observation of the world and nature, which seeks what is common rather than what divides us in the perceived contradictions. The exhibition in our "Projektraum Neue Galerie" gave an insight into Dirk Heerklotz's artistic work from his graduation (2002) at the HfBK Dresden until 2011. A catalogue was published to accompany the exhibition.
