Since 1996, the Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden Art & Culture Foundation has awarded two project scholarships for master students at the Dresden University of Fine Arts every year. in 2010, these were awarded to the artists Anna Leonhardt and Cosima Tribukeit. Cosima Tribukeit, a master student of Martin Honert, has mainly worked in the three-dimensional field to date. She will be showing current drawings, photographs and an installation. The leitmotif of her presentation is the ruin - not only as a pathos formula, but also as a fragmentary structure with references to artistic abstraction. In Anna Leonhardt's paintings and collages, with their densely structured pictorial spaces, the relationship between space and surface is constantly redefined. Her depictions of figures are not concerned with portraiture, but with the relationship of the individuals to each other and to the surrounding spatial structure. Based on this and on the structure of the cut edges of her collages, Anna Leonhardt has in recent months arrived at painterly constructions entirely without a figure - focussing on line, space and surface.
