Since 2012, the Dresden Foundation for Art and Culture of the Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden, together with the "Deutschlandstipendium" programme, has been awarding two project scholarships for master students at the Dresden University of Fine Arts. Parallel to the presentation of this year's scholarships, the two previous year's scholarship holders will be presenting current works in the Neue Galerie project space. This year, installations by Nancy Hammermeister and Alex Lebus will be on display.
Nancy Hammermeister (* 1985) has been a master student at the HfBK since 2012. Her fine, almost floating drawings and sculptural works revolve around the theme of balance. She not only uses ceramics, but also unusual materials such as window paint, make-up, chewing gum, pins, glass and oil pastels.
Alex Lebus (* 1980) has been a master student of Prof Eberhard Bosslet since 2012. With the help of lettering and mirrors, she scrutinises mechanisms and strategies of the consumer world by drawing inspiration from labels, symbols and logos.
