Since 1996, the Stadtsparkasse Dresden Art and Culture Foundation has been awarding two Hegenbarth scholarships to master students at the Dresden University of Fine Arts every year. A new feature is the co-operation with the Städtische Galerie, which in this way brings young positions into the building and at the same time offers the artists a museum forum for their work. the prizewinners for 2007 are Svea Duwe and Julia Körner. From 30 May to 29 June, the two artists will be presenting the works they created as part of the 12-month project grant in the Neue Galerie. Sculpture and performance, workpieces and processes form the field of tension in Svea Duwe's work. In her new video work "simultan", she will show a performance that will take place in the Städtische Galerie on 22 May. Julia Körner's current series of pictures is dedicated to unsettled places where relationships of scale dissolve, so that familiar views are channelled into the unknown.
