Hegenbarth Fellows 2018: Grit Aulitzky and Jan Kunze

An exhibition in the "Projektraum Neue Galerie"

14. Feb 19 5. May 19

Since 2012, the Dresden Foundation for Art & Culture of the Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden, together with the "Deutschlandstipendium" programme, has been awarding two project scholarships for outstanding master students at the Dresden University of Fine Arts. Parallel to the presentation of this year's scholarships, the two previous year's scholarship holders will be presenting current works in the "Projektraum Neue Galerie". This year, works by Grit Aulitzky and Jan Kunze will be on display.

Grit Aulitzky uses a combination of different materials - such as ceramics and fur - to create disturbing sculptural creatures, which she stages in spatial arrangements. She questions gender relations and established thought patterns and deals with themes such as oppression, utilisation and devaluation, including the feeling of shame.

Jan Kunze's works are conceptual and serialised and usually relate to socio-political events. They are preceded by a period of intensive research. His work cycles go through several phases so that different versions can be created. In the exhibition, Jan Kunze presents the new series "Early Roman Kings".
