Since 2012, the Dresden Foundation for Art & Culture of the Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden, together with the "Deutschlandstipendium" programme, has awarded two project scholarships each year to outstanding master students at the Dresden University of Fine Arts.
The Hegenbarth scholarship holders for 2021 are Annika Greschke and Veronika Pfaffinger. They are showing current works at the end of their one-year funding phase.

Annika Greschke combines painting with drawing and text in her large-format paintings. The interplay of pictorial motif and commentary is disturbing, often witty, always laconic. The painterly gesture appears as fleeting and unpretentious as a chalk drawing on a blackboard.

Veronika Pfaffinger's interventions and ceramics revolve around the theme of transience. Her artistic approach is a searching one; she reacts to what she finds. In doing so, she makes natural processes her own - be it withering grass, pecking pigeons or snow.
