The Städtische Galerie's autumn exhibition is dedicated to the painterly and sculptural work of Hubertus Giebe. From his beginnings in the 1970s to the present day, the artist has been one of the most important artistic voices in the city of Dresden
At the centre of his oeuvre are the large-format, expressively staged history paintings. In addition to this group of works, he has also consistently explored the themes of landscape, portrait, still life and the female nude. His sculptural works are less well known. The entire thematic and stylistic diversity becomes visible in the exhibition. Hubertus Giebe's broad knowledge of art history forms the frame of reference for his artistic work.
