With porcelain sculptures, drawings and pieces of jewellery, the Städtische Galerie Dresden provides an insight into the work of Kirsten Jäschke. In her works, the artist sensitively explores the difference between hardness and softness, between sober clarity and delicacy. The effect of the material is astonishing when fragile, rigid porcelain appears unexpectedly changeable and velvety or when small, hard beads are woven together to create supple necklaces.
Kirsten Jäschke's drawings also thrive on this dialectic: delicate lines structure the sheets; they contrast with areas of colour that create waves in the thin transparent paper as they dry. The solid and the unstable fall into one - "Nur Festes Gewölk".
