New acquisitions of contemporary art

The Städtische Galerie Dresden not only looks after the city's art collection, its tasks also include maintaining the collections. The focus here is on the acquisition of contemporary works of art. In order to fully honour this commitment to contemporary art, a print edition was produced for the opening of the gallery with the support of ten internationally renowned artists, including Franz Ackermann, Manfred Pernice, Eberhard Havekost, Olaf Nicolai and Thomas Scheibitz. The proceeds from the sale of this edition will be used to acquire contemporary art for our collection. In the "Projektraum Neue Galerie" we are presenting some of our acquisitions from the last two years, including works by Theo Boettger, Eberhard Bosslet, Andreas Hildebrandt, Olaf Holzapfel and Sophia Schama.
