One of the discoveries from our "Echtzeit" exhibition is the painter Grit Richter. She has found a way to bring emotions to the canvas and has developed a visual language that answers the question of figuration or abstraction in a very unique way.
»I believe that art operates on a universal level that can transcend social boundaries and visualise what unites us. We can only meet the challenges of our time with powerful softness and humanity. Soft Power stands for this persistent strength that makes hope and solidarity visible.«
Her pictures are constructions in which she draws inspiration from very different aesthetic elements of art, such as the smooth surfaces of pop art and the semantic indeterminacy of surrealism. Important pictorial themes are love and intimacy. Feelings such as fragility, exhaustion and closeness seem to be absorbed by her pictures and radiated back - quite literally, as a phosphorescent glow that seems to come from within is one of the characteristics of Grit Richter's colourful direction.

»I think art is universal. It can overcome social boundaries and show what we have in common. We can only meet the challenges of our time with powerful gentleness and humanity. Soft power is all about that ongoing strength that makes hope and solidarity obvious.«
Key themes in her work include love and intimacy. Emotions such as fragility, exhaustion, and connectedness seem to be absorbed and reflected back by her paintings – quite literally, in fact: a phosphorescent glow, as if emanating from within, is one of the defining features of Grit Richter’s approach to colour.
