Since 2012, the Dresden Foundation for Art & Culture of the Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden, together with the "Deutschlandstipendium" programme, has been awarding two project scholarships for outstanding master students at the Dresden University of Fine Arts (HfBK). Parallel to the presentation of this year's scholarships, the two previous year's scholarship holders will present current works in the "Projektraum Neue Galerie". This year, works by Elise Beutner and Nora Mesaros will be on display.

Since a DAAD-funded study visit to Ireland in 2018, Elise Beutner has been exploring the topic of sea rescue in depth. Under the title "Silence Mayday", she created numerous ink drawings and screen prints. She also shot the scenes for her film "The Name of All Things" on the Irish Atlantic coast. The works focus on the precise organisation of international maritime law, its mapping and linguistic abbreviations on the one hand and the emotional charge of dramatic individual cases on the other.

Born in Serbia, Nora Mesaros questions memories of home and childhood in her work. With a critical eye, she works out the visual characteristics of her parental home and neighbouring houses, their interiors and furniture. She also scrutinises the illustrations in her former children's books. She picks out individual fragments and textures and composes them into new surreal realities. An animated film as well as black and white drawings and objects were created for the exhibition.
