What are the precursors and raw materials of and for art? For several years, the painter Andreas Hildebrandt has been working on distilling basic forms from his intuitively found painting compositions. This exploration goes hand in hand with reflections on the foundations, premises and relationships in his artistic work. In our exhibition, he will present cultural innovations in the broadest sense - from hand axes to measuring instruments - as well as works by artists from his circle.
The show is intended to make it possible to experience the artist's network of sources and formal interests, his perceptions and their links on the way to his pictorial work as a model for creative thinking and work, and to encourage visitors to embark on a journey of thought using auratic objects with exciting histories and idiosyncratic appearances. On display are paintings, sculptures, installations and objects, including some exhibits from our own collection.
