The "Dresden Secession - Group 1919" was founded on 29 January 1919. The initiator was Conrad Felixmüller, other later well-known members were Otto Dix and Lasar Segall. The Secession wanted to "pave the way for what was to come", i.e. it saw itself as representing the interests of young Expressionist art. Two exhibitions in quick succession in 1919 and a third in 1920 made the group known nationwide, but the rapid developments of the time led to the first signs of dissolution in the year of its foundation. To mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Secession, we are showing an exhibition of works by the Secessionists from the period up to 1920 with many national and international loans.
