With Christine Schlegel (born 1950 in Crossen), the Städtische Galerie Dresden is focussing on a bustling, versatile and powerful artist. Her work encompasses a wide range of materials and genres.

Already during her studies at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts, Christine Schlegel sought alternative forms of expression beyond ideological guidelines. She thus belongs to the generation of East German artists whose work unfolded outside of official dogmas - unconventional and deeply personal. Since then, she has consistently developed her own unmistakable visual language. She works in almost all artistic genres. Paintings, drawings, overpaintings, collages, artist's books and films can be seen in the special exhibition.
